ARIN creates waiting list for the few remaining IPv4 addresses in North America

The Register reports that North America is down to its last few thousand IPv4 addresses.

While there are still some IPv4 addresses in private hands, the American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN) warned that they may not be able to fulfill current requests for IPv4 addresses in Canada, the Caribbean, North Atlantic islands and the United States.

As a result, the organization has started a waitlist for unmet requests.

IPV6 anyone?
