Our first Crowdchat #LocalData

by Steve Pao – November 14, 2016

In the spirit of reaching out beyond our own posts, we held a Crowdchat featuring industry veterans from leading analyst firms, service providers, and practioners as they talked through what's behind #LocalData that can't or won't move to the public cloud.

Bloomberg Businesweek just ran a great article titled "Home is where the data is" that described the trend for organizations to look more closesly at situations best suited for the cloud versus when data should stay on-premises.  Here's an excerpt:

“We’re getting to a phase in the hype cycle where there’s a lot more rationality setting into the market,” says Ed Anderson, cloud analyst at Gartner. “You can and should ask hard questions about if I move that workload to a cloud, will I get a meaningful benefit from that? And in some cases, the answer is probably not.”

Igneous was also featured in that article!

To expand this dicussion, we pulled together a panel of experts across disciplines, including practitioners working with their own data sets, service providers with experiences across customers, and industry analysts.   The transcript is below!
